Asma Sacha-Salloo - Fitness Fusion Participant Case Study
Asma Sacha-Salloo has been participating in Fitness Fusion classes since the classes started at The Dancing House, Gomersal in January 2017. After 8 months of attending the class on a regular basis Asma has dropped an incredible two dress sizes!
What makes you interested in the Fitness Fusion class?
The class is amazing, it is a fun, upbeat and energetic cardio session and Sophie an amazing coach - so encouraging.
Were you involved in any physical activity before you attended the class?
No, not really. I went for an occasional swim but nothing else. I used to comfort eat and my weight kept on increasing from around April - December 2016, my dress size went up from a size 10 to a size 12-14.
What keeps you returning to the class?
I really enjoy the routines and that feeling of accomplishment after Sophie has done a great workout with us. Due to the weight gain when i attended the classes in January i used to ache in so many places on my body as i knew that i was working muscles which my body had not been used and at a high intensity. I gradually started to see results alongside a smart lifestyle change and eating a healthier diet choosing better foods. I also attend the class on a regular basis because of the other ladies that attend, they are great group - we all encourage each other and are all supportive of each other. Most importantly we have a laugh with Sophie whilst getting our workout.
What do you enjoy most about the class?
I love the routines!! The dance element, the way Sophie targets different muscle groups for example legs, or arms. P.S The “demon” squats!! Over time i have improved my muscle strength, i can now do over 60 squats without the extreme pain i used to experience.
How do you feel after the class?
I feel a great deal of accomplishment, motivation and i feel proud of myself - it’s a great confidence boost.
Have you/would you recommend the class to a friend?
Yes, definitely! I have already recommended Sophies classes to lots of my friends.
What difference has the class made to you?
Joining the Fitness Fusion class has been a great motivation and has been a great part of my lifestyle change. Prior to January 2017, my Monday evenings consisted of returning home from work and reaching for food alongside a sneaky bar of chocolate. But not anymore… Monday nights are now about fueling my body with the right foods so that i have the energy to get the very best out of Sophie’s class. It has been an incredible journey for me and i haven't looked back - now reaching my usual dress size (size 10). It is now about continuing to make smart lifestyle choices with my food in combination with a consistent exercise regime which is where Fitness Fusion has played a big part. After starting Sophie class i have also been motivated to take part in other physical activities - I now go swimming twice a week and do weight at home. I feel like i have come a long way in my fitness journey and Sophies encouraging words and fast-paced, energetic cardio workout has been a big part of this. It has shown me that progress takes time and consistency.
